With star center Joel Embiid sidelined for all but 11 minutes of Game 4, the Philadelphia 76ers lost to the Washington Wizards on Monday.

Embiid suffered a knee injury in the first half and was almost immediately ruled out for the remainder of the game. This played a role in Washington avoiding a sweep as the hands of the 76ers.

We now have more information on Joel Embiid and his knee injury. It’s not great for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. The NBA MVP candidate underwent an MRI and is doubtful to play Game 5 in Philadelphia on Wednesday. He’s also going to undergo further tests over the next day or so.

Embiid, 27, was averaging 29.3 points and 7.0 rebounds in the first three games of the series. Philadelphia won by a combined 61 points in those three games.

But with the star center sidelined and Ben Simmons in foul trouble throughout Game 4, the 76ers were overwhelmed by Washington to the tune of 122-114. The lack of size hurt Philly in a big way with Russell Westbrook dishing out 14 assists and grabbing 21 rebounds.

Obviously, Embiid’s injury could factor in to what we see Wednesday evening against the Wizards as Philadelphia looks to close out the series at home.
