The Baltimore Ravens have completely revamped their receiving corps this offseason, and quarterback Joe Flacco is extremely excited about one new addition in particular. When asked about how things are going with the new crew, Flacco lit up talking about Michael Crabtree, formerly of the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers.
“(He’s) the guy, because he’s got a little different way that he runs the routes. He’s really crafty with it, and he knows when to break away from guys and how to get open,” Flacco said, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.
Crabtree is definitely a crafty player who has learned to win more with technique than raw athleticism. He has played nine seasons in the NFL since being selected No. 10 overall by San Francisco back in 2009. It remains to be seen what he can do to help Baltimore’s offense, but it’s worth pointing out he has caught 25 touchdowns the past three seasons with the Raiders.
If he and Flacco can get on the same page early on, it stands to reason that Crabtree will be the leading receiver for the Ravens in 2018. He isn’t a dominant No. 1 guy, but he is a tremendous possession receiver who has hauled in an average of 64 receptions per seasons since his rookie campaign.
