Jimmy Garoppolo can do something only Hall of Famer Steve Young has ever accomplished in NFL history if he leads the San Francisco 49ers to victory in Super Bowl LIV.

According to NFL Research, if Garoppolo does win the Super Bowl, he’ll join Young as the only other quarterback to have won as both a starter and backup in the big game.

That’s pretty incredible. A team with legendary quarterbacks in its history may just have another by the time Super Bowl Sunday is done.

For what it’s worth, the Kansas City Chiefs are hoping Garoppolo has to win the game with his arm. Based on what he’s done this year when that’s been required, they may end up regretting that in a big way.

Garoppolo and the 49ers will take on the Chiefs this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET on Fox.
