NASCAR Hall of Fame driver turned Cup Series team owner Jimmie Johnson and media personality Marty Smith are launching a SiriusXM Podcast under the name ‘Never Settle.’
The seven-time champion and ESPN personality will discuss the following topics as outlined in an announcement:
Each week, Johnson and Smith will discuss the headline stories in NASCAR, and will share stories and perspectives gleaned from Jimmie’s many successful years competing on the track. Marty and Jimmie will take the discussion beyond the world of motorsports, too, discussing lifestyle matters, music, and sharing experiences and lessons learned staying true to the motto “never settle” as they navigated through success and challenges in their lives and careers.

‘Never Settle’ will debut on Wednesday, February 12 prior to Daytona 500 qualifying. Johnson is entered into the event, trying to drive his way into his 699th start at the highest level of Stock Car racing behind the wheel of the No. 84 Legacy Motor Club that he now is the majority owner of.
It’s also his third season driving a partial schedule for the team.
Before Smith became known for his college football coverage on ESPN, he rose to prominence as a content creator for NASCAR.com and the Speed Channel. He then moved to ESPN as part of its NASCAR coverage but was offered the chance to spearhead its football coverage but his love for Stock Car racing has never wavered.
The show will also air live on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. on the SiriusXM NASCAR channel.
“It’s crazy that this podcast has finally come to life,” said Johnson in a press release. “Marty and I have known each other for 20 plus years and he is one of the all-time best storytellers out there. He’s also hilarious and the two of us have had a lot of fun together throughout the years. We’re excited to work with SiriusXM, and we can’t wait to share some entertaining stories with listeners and have some great guests in their 2.0 version of life on the show with us. It’s going to be wild.”
