Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers missed Game 3 against the visiting Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday with an upper-body injury.
Ehlers hasn’t played since sustaining the injury on April 11 against the Minnesota Wild.
The 27-year-old Ehlers indicated before the series started that he would be ready to play and would not need medical clearance, but coach Rick Bowness said the forward won’t play until he’s cleared by doctors.
Ehlers is expected to practice Sunday ahead of Game 4 in Winnipeg on Monday.
Multiple injuries limited the Denmark native to just 45 games this season, in which he had 12 goals and 38 points.
Ehlers played in the first two games of the season before going on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury, which later required sports hernia surgery.
The Jets selected Ehlers with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. In 523 games over eight seasons, Ehlers has 396 points (176 goals, 220 assists).
