It’s not a secret that star cornerback Jalen Ramsey and his Jacksonville Jaguars have had somewhat of a rocky relationship over the past year or so.

Ramsey, 24, has found himself in Tom Coughlin’s dog house due to what many might consider immaturity on and off the field. It’s led to Jacksonville’s top front office man calling out the two-time Pro Bowler.

In talking to the media during the Jags’ mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, Ramsey indicated that the Jaguars have told him he won’t be receiving a contract extension this summer.

Given the nature of his relationship with Jacksonville’s brass, this can’t be considered surprising news. A top-five pick of the Jaguars back in 2015, Ramsey has two more years remaining on his rookie deal. He’s set to earn a base of just $3.63 million in 2019 before that number hits $13.7 million in 2020.

Some have speculated that the Jags could look to cut their losses and trade Ramsey.

Though, that’s seems somewhat counterproductive. He remains one of the best corners in football. The Florida State product has recorded 44 passes defended and nine interceptions in three seasons.

This also comes at the same time that teammate Yannick Ngakoue is holding out from camp for a new contract. At the very least, Ramsey is on hand.
