New York Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury that will require surgery.

The Islanders also announced Thursday that defenseman Scott Mayfield will miss four-to-six weeks with a lower-body injury, which puts his season in jeopardy. New York (27-25-9, 63 points) concludes the regular season against the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning on April 29.

Clutterbuck, 34, signed a two-year, $3.5 million contract extension Monday after being on target for unrestricted free agency this summer.

He recorded 15 points (six goals, nine assists) in 59 games this season. He has 262 points (130 goals, 132 assists) in 933 career games with the Minnesota Wild and Islanders.

Mayfield, 29, has 18 points (three goals, career high-tying 15 assists) in 61 games this season. He has 87 points (19 goals, 68 assists) in 346 career games since being selected by the Islanders in the second round of the 2011 NHL Draft.
