Iowa has landed four-star point guard Dasonte Bowen, the Hawkeyes’ first commitment in the class of 2022.

Bowen, from Massachusetts, is the highest-rated point guard to commit to Iowa in the Fran McCaffery-era, according to 247Sports. He’s the 17th-ranked point guard in the country and No. 82 overall, per 247Sports.

Bowen plays for Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H.

The 6-foot-3 Bowen chose Iowa over Maryland, Northwestern, Boston College, Georgetown, Seton Hall and Rutgers among others. Bowen’s only other visits were to Maryland and Northwestern. He made the announcement on Twitter.

“The main highlight was that I was able to watch some film with Coach McCaffery,” Bowen told HawkeyeInsider. “He plugged my film into Iowa’s film. He was showing me how my game would transfer into their game on the visual part. He was showing me plays that I’m making in AAU and those same plays that previous guys they had were making. They were showing me how I would fit perfectly into what they’re running.”
