Alvarado previously played with Club America, Necaxa and Santos Laguna.
Born in Phoenix to Mexican parents, Alvarado chose to represent the U.S. internationally. He earned 13 caps with the USMNT, all of them in 2015.
Inter Miami are last in the league with just nine points through 13 matches. They have conceded 23 goals and have an MLS-worst minus-13 goal differential.
