Inter Miami CF announced the signing Wednesday of forward Indiana Vassilev on a season-long loan from the Premier League side Aston Villa.

The 20-year-old Savannah, Ga., native will join the MLS club upon receipt of his international transfer certificate.

“Indiana is an exciting young talent who has a lot of potential,” Miami sporting director Chris Henderson said in a club statement. “He’s comfortable and confident on the ball and fluid with his movement. We feel this is the right place for Indiana to further his development and reach his potential.”

Vassilev made his debut with the Aston Villa senior side in January 2020 and appeared in six matches, including four in the Premier League, one in the FA Cup and one in the EFL Cup.

He spent 2020-21 on loans with Burton Albion in League One and at Cheltenham Town in League Two, making a total of 24 appearances (eight starts).

Internationally, Vassilev has represented various U.S. youth national teams, including four appearances at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
