Penske Entertainment has replaced outgoing IndyCar Series president Jay Frye with Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Doug Boles, who will now serve in both roles jointly.
No reason was issued for the change.
“Racing is in my DNA, and no form of racing resonates more personally and strongly with me than the NTT IndyCar Series,” Boles said in a press release. “I’m honored to lead the amazing team at IndyCar, and I truly believe the future is bigger and brighter than ever for our sport and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I’m extremely grateful to Mark Miles for this opportunity, and fans can rest assured the hard work is already under way and 2025 will be a fantastic season.”
This was one of several changes made by IndyCar on Tuesday.
IndyCar promoted Mark Sibla to Senior Vice President of Competition and Operations, including the development of the next series racing platform. Kyle Novak has been promoted from race director to Vice President of Officiating and Race Control with oversight over the inspection process.
Alex Damron, Penske Entertainment Communications Vice President is now the chief marketing officer. Louis Kissinger has been promoted to Indianapolis Motor Speedway Operations General Manager to assist Boles as he spends more time on the IndyCar Series side of the business.
Frye has issued a statement about his time at IndyCar.
“It has been an absolute honor and privilege to be the President of IndyCar and work alongside the dedicated and talented men and women at IndyCar and in the IndyCar paddock,” he said. “The growth and success the series has had over the last 10 years would not be possible without the commitment and collaboration of the owners, drivers and teams.”
