Indianapolis Colts star left guard Quenton Nelson got through the week without a setback and is expected to be activated off injured reserve to play against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night.

Nelson, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, has missed the past three games due to a high-ankle sprain.

“He handled it well, he looked good,” Colts coach Frank Reich said of Nelson on Friday. “I expect all systems will be go.”

The status of receiver T.Y. Hilton (quadriceps) remains in doubt even as the club listed him as questionable for the game. Hilton didn’t participate in practices all week and a decision on his availability could come as soon as Saturday.

“We’re not going to rule him out, we’re going to evaluate it tomorrow,” Reich said. “It’s probably not likely that he’s gonna go, but I’m not going to rule it out just yet. … We pushed it today a little bit to see if he was close, and because it’s T.Y., we just want to wait one more day before making any determination.”

The Colts ruled out five players for Sunday’s game: offensive tackle Braden Smith (foot, thumb), defensive end Kemoko Turay (groin), cornerback Rock Ya-Sin (ankle), running back Jordan Wilkins (non-football illness) and safety Julian Blackmon (Achilles).

Blackmon suffered the season-ending torn Achilles in practice on Wednesday. He is expected to be placed on injured reserve when the Colts activate Nelson.
