When Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz suffered a fractured foot early in training camp, it was widely expected that he’d miss multiple regular-season games.

Fortunately for the recently-acquired quarterback and his new team, Wentz’s recovery from surgery has been much quicker than most people anticipated.

He was seen taking part in individual workouts last week without a boot on his foot. Now, it appears that Wentz will be back on the practice field this week.

This is absolutely huge news for Carson Wentz and the Colts. If he’s able to get time in during practice this week, there’s a darn good chance that the Pro Bowl quarterback will be able to suit up Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks.

While Wentz struggled big time in his final season with the Philadelphia Eagles, there’s no question that he’s a better option under center than Jacob Eason and Sam Ehlinger.

Indianapolis has Super Bowl expectations. It mortgaged the future by adding Carson Wentz to the mix in a blockbuster trade with the Eagles this past spring. Having what they hope to be a franchise quarterback under center once the regular-season opens will only heighten expectations.
