Hugh Freeze to coach Liberty from hospital bed in booth against Syracuse

Liberty head football coach Hugh Freeze is still in the middle of his recovery from staph infection. He was recently released from the hospital, and Freeze will coach Saturday’s game from a hospital bed in the coach’s booth.

This incredible bit of news was first reported by A Sea of Red and shortly afterward confirmed by Stephen Bailey of Syracuse.com, who also noted Freeze is “most comfortable when reclined and plans to fly to ULL next week.”

Freeze, of course, hasn’t coached since Ole Miss was charged with giving improper benefits to players, along with a bunch of recruiting violations, during his tenure with the Rebels.

Three years later, and he is clearly determined not to miss his first game back as a college football coach — no matter what.
