Austin Rivers leaves Orlando to deal with urgent family matter
It’s something we have seen several times since 22 of the NBA’s 30 teams headed to the Walt Disney World bubble. Players having to deal with family matters amid the raging pandemic in the United States.
As for Rivers’ absence, it’s obvious that he’s asking for some privacy right now. Given that it’s an urgent family issue, said privacy should be respected.
The son of Clippers head coach Doc Rivers, Austin is also related to Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry. The two are in-laws after Rivers’ sister married Curry’s brother, Seth, who is a member of the Dallas Mavericks.
As for the Rockets, they will resume the season with a 40-24 record and as the sixth seed in the Western Conference. Rivers, 27, is averaging 8.5 points on 36% shooting from distance this season.
