Houston Dynamo coach Tab Ramos will miss Saturday’s home game against Minnesota United due to a medical emergency involving a family member.
The Dynamo said Ramos traveled to New Jersey due to the situation.
Assistant coach Omid Namazi will run the Dynamo against Minnesota United.
“The club fully supports Tab and his family during this challenging time,” the Dynamo said in a news release. “Assistant coach Omid Namazi and the entire coaching staff have done an excellent job preparing the team during training this week.”
Houston (3-8-10, 19 points) is mired in a 14-match winless streak (0-6-8) and is tied for last place in the Western Conference with expansion Austin FC.
Ramos, 54, has a 7-18-19 record in parts of two seasons as Dynamo coach. He was a three-time World Cup performer (1990, 1994, 1998) for the United States during his playing career and was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2005.
