Heisman candidate Josh Adams feels ‘great’ Sunday, was never in concussion protocol

Notre Dame running back Josh Adams barely played on Saturday after a big hit to the head sidelined him early. However, according to head coach Brian Kelly on Sunday, Adams feels “great” one day later. Furthermore, as he mentioned on Saturday, Kelly reiterated Adams did not suffer a concussion on the hit.

This is tremendous news, both for Adams on a personal note and for the Fighting Irish as a team.

Even counting his 22 yards on just five carries Saturday against Wake Forest, Adams is averaging 141 total yards per game this year. He’s also scored nine touchdowns this season and had rushed for at least 118 yards in the four previous games before being banged up Saturday.

Needless to say, Adams has emerged as a legitimate Heisman candidate down the home stretch. If he continues to have huge games and the Irish keep winning, he just might be a surprise winner.

Notre Dame needs Adams at full strength if it’s going to continue dominating. A road trip to take on the undefeated Miami Hurricanes is the next hurdle for this team, and it should be a tremendous game.
