Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo will be sidelined 4-6 weeks following surgery on his right thumb.

The 24-year-old All-Star underwent a procedure Monday to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament. The surgery was performed by Dr. Steven Shin at the Kerlan-Jobe Surgery Center in Los Angeles.

Adebayo has averaged 18.7 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.1 steals in 18 starts this season, shooting 51.9 percent from the field.

He sustained the injury during a 120-111 loss to the visiting Denver Nuggets on Nov. 29.

Miami’s first-round pick (14th overall) in 2017, Adebayo has averaged 12.7 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 305 career games (201 starts). He was an All-Star in 2019-20 and made the NBA All-Defensive second team in both 2019-20 and 2020-21.
