Wednesday night’s game between the Los Angeles Clippers and Atlanta Hawks was already seemingly going to be a let down.
Earlier in the day, Los Angeles ruled stars Paul George and Kawhi Leonard out for the game. The Atlanta Hawks have now done the same with star guard Trae Young.
Head coach Lloyd Pierce indicated that Young suffered a thigh injury during Monday night’s loss to the Toronto Raptors. It came on a hard screen from Toronto big man Marc Gasol.
We’re not too sure how long-term this injury might be. But the fact that Young can’t go two days after the fact is alarming.
The sophomore has been absolutely tremendous for an otherwise horrible Hawks squad this season. Young is averaging 29.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 8.6 assists on 45% shooting from the field.
