Former Pro Bowl safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is returning to Alabama as a member of coach Nick Saban’s staff.

Clinton-Dix, 30, announced the news Friday after signing a ceremonial one-day deal to retire from the NFL as a member of the Green Bay Packers.

He said he will join the Crimson Tide as a director of player development.

“That’s where my life is headed: into coaching,” Clinton-Dix told reporters, per USA Today. “Helping these kids create great decision making and making the right choices as they get ready to further their career and head to the NFL and other avenues they want to endure after football is over with.”

Clinton-Dix played at Alabama from 2011-13, winning two national championships before the Packers drafted him in the first round (21st overall) in 2014.

He recorded 16 interceptions, five fumble recoveries, 5.5 sacks and 522 tackles in 98 games (90 starts) in the NFL with Green Bay (2014-18), Washington (2018), Chicago (2019) and Las Vegas (2021).

Clinton-Dix made the Pro Bowl in 2016 after posting a career-high five interceptions in 16 starts for the Packers.
