Green Bay Packers Receive a “Mini Bye Week” From Their Coach

The Green Bay Packers have been playing extremely well and they just beat a very formidable opponent when they hosted the New England Patriots this past Sunday. As a reward for their exceptional play, head coach Mike McCarthy awarded the team a couple of extra days off.

In a post-game talk to the team, McCarthy had this to say (via Foxsports.com)

I want you to treat these next couple days like a mini bye week. Get fresh, get healthy, I will see you Thursday.

McCarthy proceeded to share with reporters..

I wanted the players to have an extra day off this week. You look at years past when you plan out your schedule, we’ve played on Thanksgiving day every other year. I always like that little break right before the fourth quarter of the season, so I tried to create that a little bit with the Monday night schedule.

What a much-needed and well-deserved late-season mini-break the Packers are receiving. With their next game not taking place until Monday night, December 8th, this was the perfect opportunity for McCarthy to reward his players a little rest and relaxation in order to ramp up and welcome the Falcons to town in Week 14.

After McCarthy shared the wonderful news, the players were heard happily shouting back..

See you Thursday.

Maybe this will give the guys just the extra days they need to visit family, or perhaps do some early holiday shopping for their generous and loving coach.
