The last professional athlete from another sport to receive a sponsors exemption on tour was former Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo at the 2019 Fortinet Championship. … Former Players Championship winners Jason Day and Rickie Fowler are in the field.
BEST BETS: Tony Finau (+1400 at BetMGM) finished T3 in the event in 2020 and is coming off a T28 at The Open Championship. … No. 14 Hideki Matsuyama (+1600) is the highest-ranked player in the field and has already won twice this season. … Sungjae Im (+1600) has six top-10s this season, one shy of his career high. … Rookie Davis Riley (+2000) has six top-10s among 24 starts this season and is 23rd in the FedEx Cup standings. … Sahith Theegala (+2500), another rookie, has five top-10s during a streak of eight consecutive made cuts.

It is the ninth playing of the Evian Championship as a major. … The 132-player field represents 39 different countries and will be cut to the top 70 and ties after 36 holes. … Lee overcame a seven-shot deficit with a 64 on Sunday and defeated Jeongeun Lee on the first playoff hole last year. … In Gee Chun holds the tournament scoring record of 263 set in 2016. … Lee leads the tour in official money ($3.3M), scoring average (69.025) and total strokes gained (2.610). … Kupcho is the first three-time winner on tour this year. … The average age of winners on tour this year is 26.44. … Lexi Thompson leads the Team USA Solheim Cup standings with 220 points, followed by Kupcho (187) and Nelly Korda (135). Danielle Kang, who is fourth with 134 points, is the only winner on tour this year not in the field as she continues to recover from a tumor on her spine.
