Golf fans rip Fox U.S. Open broadcast for excessive Tiger Woods coverage

Tiger Woods is back

Tiger Woods entered the final round of the 2019 U.S. Open 11 shots off the lead at even par for the tournament. Then, he opened the fourth round with four bogeys in the first six holes, making an already frustrating week all the more intolerable.

Woods was clearly frustrated with his play and appeared to be possibly battling through a physical ailment. His body language was nowhere close to what we’ve all grown to expect from the 15-time major champ.

In fact, many felt like Woods was ready to just call it quits already after six holes.

Yet even as Woods struggled, the FOX Sports broadcast continued to feature him as a top priority. Many watching at home were frustrated by this development, wishing instead to watch other players who were having success.

On one hand, it’s easy to understand why Woods was getting so much play despite his poor outing. He moves the needle like nobody else in the business, even when he isn’t on his game. Also, the leaders were nowhere close to teeing off yet.

At the same time, it’s understandable that people watching at home would be more inclined to watch golfers who were playing well, rather than seeing Woods struggle.
