The New York Giants shocked a lot of people back in April by selecting Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Jones is seen as a project. The pick was certainly seen as a reach.

But as the Giants take part in OTAs, star young running back Saquon Barkley came to Jones’ defense in a big way.

That’s a bold prediction or two right there. It also shows the reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in a good light.

Barkley is going to go to bat for his future running mate in the backfield. That has to feel good for Mr. Jones.

Whether this partnership starts in 2019 remains to be seen. The Giants have an actual two-time Super Bowl champ under center in Eli Manning. He’ll start to begin the season as New York’s starter.
