New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley will miss the first of two joint practices in New England to address a personal matter, multiple outlets reported Wednesday.
Barkley didn’t make the team trip on Tuesday to Foxborough, Mass. He will make his own arrangements to be back at practice Thursday.
The absence is not expected to set Barkley back from his recovery from an ACL injury, and he’s expected to participate in live drills with the Patriots’ defense on the field. He did not take part in live drills last week in joint practices with the Cleveland Browns.
Barkley has a chance to be ready for New York’s opener Sept. 12 versus the Denver Broncos.
