Gerald McCoy reportedly drawing interest from Bengals

Gerald McCoy

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, and he’s already drawing plenty of interest. One team that has reportedly expressed interest in signing McCoy is the Cincinnati Bengals, per ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

Given the way Cincinnati has struggled to stay competitive in recent years, and given that ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted McCoy is looking to sign with a contender, this pairing seems a bit unlikely.

The one thing Cincinnati does have is the cap space (just over $20 million, per Over The Cap) to offer McCoy a lucrative deal, if the two sides were to discuss a contract.

Another thing that could potentially be enticing for McCoy is the opportunity to play next to All-Pro Geno Atkins. The two of them on the same line would be a frightening prospect for any opposing offense to contend with.

Though, the chance to play for an up-and-coming Super Bowl contender (like this) might make this all a moot point.
