Six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has been quite the hot free agent ever since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released him. One of the teams that is now showing significant interest is the Carolina Panthers, whose interest in the veteran “has intensified,” per Joe Person of The Athletic.
As Person noted, it’s not yet known if Carolina will even have the chance to bring McCoy in for a visit. He’s been strongly pursued by both the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns, who recently had him in for a visit.
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, McCoy just wrapped up a visit with Baltimore on Wednesday, and the big issue right now is money. Rapoport wrote, “At this point, it’s Browns or Ravens for McCoy. If the price isn’t right, McCoy could visit a third team.”
Based on Person’s report, Carolina is hoping McCoy does just that.
