Jason Collins nets

Multiple current NBA players are currently dealing with the coronavirus (COVID-19). It was just a couple short weeks ago that the NBA season was suspended after Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert tested positive for the virus.

Now comes this piece of information from former NBA player Jason Collins, who announced on social media Tuesday that has has also tested positive.

Collins’ story is worrisome and tells us a lot about what the hundreds of thousands of people infected with the illness are dealing with right now.

Collins, 41, suited up in the NBA from 2001-2014 after a tremendous collegiate career at Stanford. He last played for the Brooklyn Nets during the 2013-14 season.

During that time, Collins came out as the first openly gay active athlete in any of the four major North American professional sports leagues.
