Former Louisville star Russ Smith scores 81 points in Chinese NBL game

Russ Smith

Russ Smith, who was a star player for the Louisville Cardinals from 2010-14, dropped 81 points in a Chinese NBL game on Wednesday.

Sportando broke down how Smith generated that gaudy total, along with sharing the rest of his stat line.

Kobe Bryant would be proud.

Smith last played in the states during the 2015-16 season. He’s been blowing up overseas playing with Luoyang, with his lowest point total coming in at 42.

He’s also been dropping buckets at a very reasonable rate, shooting 49 percent from the field, 37 percent from 3 and 87.4 percent at the foul line. While it’s nothing like the competition Smith might face in the NBA, he’s still balling out at a prolific rate against other professionals.

And if he continues to score like he’s been scoring, don’t be surprised to see Smith showing up on the NBA scene once again in the coming years.
