Former All-Star CP Huston Street joins Texas Longhorns coaching staff

More than two years after he last stepped foot onto an MLB field, former All-Star closer Huston Street will be making his return to baseball in a new role at his alma mater.

According to Brian Davis of The Austin American-Statesman, Street will join the Texas Longhorns baseball coaching staff as a student assistant. He’ll be teaming up with fellow All-Star Troy Tulowitzki on the staff.

It’s not the first time that Tulowitzki and Street are teammates. The duo played together with the Colorado Rockies from 2009-11.

The 36-year-old’s MLB career began with the Oakland Athletics before he joined Colorado in ’09. He also spent time with the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Angels.

Street’s experience in the majors and his knowledge about using a cutter will be welcome additions for the young baseball players at Texas. He recorded 324 saves with 42 wins and an outstanding 2.95 ERA across 680 career innings in 13 seasons.
