Calgary Flames defenseman Chris Tanev said he will have shoulder surgery next month and be sidelined four to six months.

He told reporters Saturday that he sustained a dislocated shoulder during Game 6 of the first-round series against the Dallas Stars on May 13.

“We’ll see how it goes,” Tanev said, per Sportsnet. “After the surgery, I’m sure that our medical staff will have more of an update on how it went and more of an exact time frame maybe, I don’t know. Four to six months is kinda big but that’s what I’ve been told.”

Tanev missed the Flames’ Game 7 win against Dallas and the first three games of the Western Conference second-round series against Edmonton. The Oilers eliminated Calgary with a 5-4 overtime win in Game 5 on Thursday.

Tanev, 32, skated in all 82 games this season and posted a career-high 28 points (six goals, 22 assists). He added one assist in eight playoff games.

He has 158 points (30 goals, 128 assists) in 652 games over 12 seasons with the Vancouver Canucks (2010-20) and Flames.
