Big man Dereck Lively, the No. 2 overall recruit in the Class of 2022, has committed to Duke.

The 7-foot-1 center from Westtown School outside of Philadelphia chose the Blue Devils over Kentucky, Penn State and Michigan.

“I like the whole idea of the Brotherhood, Duke basketball and Duke University,” Lively told ESPN. “I believe next year’s team has a chance to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament and maybe a national championship. After my playing career, a Duke degree is important to me.”

Lively is ranked No. 2 in the ESPN 100 and the 247Sports Composite.

He was the first recruit offered a scholarship by Jon Scheyer, who will take over for retiring head coach Mike Krzyzewski in 2022-23.
