All was slow on the Major League Baseball front as the sports world prepares for Thanksgiving later this week. That’s when the New York Yankees pulled off a trade of epic proportions, acquiring ace starter James Paxton from the Seattle Mariners in a four-player deal.
The trade sends top Yankees prospect Justus Sheffield and two other prospects to Seattle as the Pacific Northwest team starts a previously reported fire sale.
Needless to say, a trade of this magnitude to start the MLB hot stove season created quite the reactions from fans on social media. Here are some of the best.
@OldTakesExposed after today, I’m willing to go out on the limb and say the Yankees will win the World Series next year. They finally got a break today by picking up Paxton. Nice to see good things happen to the little guys.

You should be excited about Sheffield. Swanson is probably going to have a long career as a #4 type. But watch out for Dom Thompson-Williams. Slashed .299/363./.546 in 2018 in A Ball and high A, with 22 dingers.

I’m really not ok with Paxton going to the Yankees. Nope. Nope. Nope.

James Paxton's 2018:

The Yankees are getting a very good LH starter in Paxton. That move is a major upgrade for them. The Mariners are at least stocking the system, which is to say, that playoff futility streak will most likely be continuing

That seems like an awfully light return for Seattle. Got to love this deal for Cashman and the Yankees. https://t.co/4lJxYzBUoN
