Imagine going through the belongings of a family member that has since departed this life and coming away with $1 million in collectibles.

That’s what a family found when it discovered a paper bag that contained seven Ty Cobb baseball cards in the house of a deceased great-grandfather.

Per the Associated Press, the seven cards were authenticated by a dealer in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Their printing period ranges from 1909-11. Before the family’s discovery, only 15 of these cards were said to still exist.

The cards are from a lot that includes the famous Honus Wagner collectible, which is considered the most-valuable sports card ever printed.

One expert, Joe Orlando of Professional Sports Authenticator in Newport Beach, told the AP that this is “one of the greatest finds in the history of our hobby.”

The family did ask to remain anonymous, likely to avoid overtures from top collectors in the sports world until it figures out what to do with the new goldmine.

Cobb is considered one of the greatest baseball players of all-time. He boasts the highest career batting average in baseball history at .366 and played for a whopping 24 years before retiring in 1928.
