The Atlanta Falcons have been without two of their star offensive players throughout the first two preseason games in that of running back Devonta Freeman and wide receiver Julio Jones.
Now set to play that all-important third preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars this week, Falcons head coach Dan Quinn has ruled both out for the game.
According to Quinn, this likely means that neither will see any action before Atlanta’s Week 1 game against Philadelphia Eagles, via the team’s official website.
This presents two obstacles. Atlanta would like to be at full strength against the best defense the NFL has to offer in its biggest regular season tune-up. Secondly, both could very well be rusty against the defending champion Eagles come opening night in Philly.
Freeman has been out since suffering a sprained MCL and PCL late last season. Meanwhile, Jones has been hobbled by a nagging toe injury.
