The world really doesn’t need another LaVar Ball. Just don’t tell that to Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott’s father, Stacy, who just recently did his best LaVar impersonation.
In talking about the division-rival New York Giants selecting fellow running back Saquon Barkley No. 2 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, Stacy threw down the gauntlet big time. It’s not just a knock on Barkley. No, the older Elliott is calling out every running back to ever play the game not named Ezekiel.
“He’s the G.O.A.T. He’s the best to ever play the game,” Stacy said, via TMZ Sports. “This is deeper than Lavar Ball … this is the actual truth. The truth is in the pudding, or the pudding’s in the truth, whatever they say.”
For the love of everything right in the world, please don’t do this.
It’s one thing to have faith in your son. Most of us hope that our fathers would in fact have said faith in us. But this is some next level stuff. After all, Elliott has played in a grand total of 25 NFL games. We’re pretty darn sure the likes of Jim Brown and Barry Sanders would have something to say about this.
Stacy didn’t stop there. Because, why would he?
“Saquon’s a great running back, great young man. But he’s not Ezekiel Elliot in my opinion. Ezekiel is the best to ever play the game,” Ezekiel’s father continued.”
Hey, at least we know Ezekiel Elliott has someone important behind him. I guess that’s not a bad thing.
