Texas’ teams in MLS and the USL Championship will lean on each other in order to prepare for their upcoming seasons, conducting a La Copita preseason tournament.

Expansion Austin FC will get its first taste of competition against FC Dallas, the Houston Dynamo and San Antonio FC of the second-division USL. The Oklahoma City Energy of the USL will participate in just one game of the event at Houston.

The four Texas teams will play three 90-minute games each.

The tournament will run from March 27-April 10, with the leader in round-robin play crowned the champion. Three points will be awarded for a victory. Tie games will go to a shootout, with the winner earning two points.

“I’m glad we have been able to organize La Copita, and we’re hopeful it becomes an important part of Austin FC’s preparations each season for years to come,” Austin FC sporting director Claudio Reyna said in a statement.
