New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is known as a man of few words and little emotion, especially in the public space. But while many outside of New England view him as a curmudgeon, a recent story from a former player shows a side of Belichick we never get to see.

Benjamin Watson, who played for the New England Patriots from 2004-’09 and during the 2019 season, opened up about the friendlier side of Belichick. The true personality of the future Hall of Famer that shows why players love him.

During an interview on First Things First, Watson said that Belichick took part in the team’s annual rookie show this past summer and he proved to be quite the source of entertainment.

Laughter, jokes and making fun of people. It’s not exactly the things fans think about when defining Belichick’s personality, but that’s probably just how he wants it. The 67-year-old coach is a six-time Super Bowl champion and his methods clearly work.

While we might not get to see him show his personality often, his surprise appearances at beach parties and willingness to troll fans makes him an enjoyable character in the NFL.
