Former Oregon quarterback Tyler Shough is heading for Texas Tech, he announced Monday, only a little more than a week after he entered the NCAA’s transfer portal.
Shough, who will enter the Red Raiders program as a graduate transfer, threw for 1,559 yards and 13 touchdowns and started all seven of the Ducks’ regular-season games in the pandemic-shortened 2020 schedule.
Oregon won its second straight Pac-12 title despite finishing 4-3.
In the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2, which No. 25 Oregon lost to No. 10 Iowa State, Shough shared time with Anthony Brown. Shough, who completed 7 of 9 passes for 79 yards and an interception, said after that game that he intended to remain at Oregon, according to ESPN, but he entered the transfer portal on Feb. 12.
Shough posted on Twitter on Monday, “Let’s go to work. I’ll be continuing my athletic career and obtaining a Masters at Texas Tech! #GunsUp”
In two seasons at Oregon, Shough completed 64.8 percent of his passes for 1,703 yards with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Texas Tech is coming off a 4-6 season and finished eighth in the Big 12 at 3-6.
Red Raiders quarterback Alan Bowman, who played three seasons and was often injured, announced last month that he will enter the transfer portal as well. Bowman threw for 1,602 yards with 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions in eight games a season ago. He finished with 5,260 yards with 33 TD passes and 17 interceptions overall at Texas Tech.
