Joe Flacco throwing a pass as a member of the Denver Broncos
New York Jets quarterback Joe Flacco

The New York Jets on Friday made the smart decision to bring in former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco on a cheap deal to backup starting quarterback Sam Darnold.

Flacco, 35, is coming off neck surgery last month and just put up a putrid performance for the Denver Broncos in 2019. The veteran quarterback threw just six touchdowns compared to five interceptions in eight starts, leading Denver to a 2-6 record.

All the while, former NFL MVP Cam Newton remains unsigned with very little interest in his services. As expected, the football community had all the same jokes after New York’s signing of Flacco became public record.
