Embiid, Towns rematch set for March 24th, 2020 in Minneapolis

After Wednesday’s “Dilly in Philly,” Joel Embiid of the 76ers and Karl-Anthony Towns of the Timberwolves are set for a rematch on March 24, 2020 in Minneapolis. That means we’ll have to wait nearly five months for Embiid/Towns II.

In case you missed – and it was something to see – Embiid and Towns hooked up in a knock-down, drag-out brawl in Philadelphia on Wednesday night. After years of Embiid getting the best of Towns during nearly every game, it appears Towns had enough.

The two big-men traded sparing blows through the first half of each teams fourth game of the season. Then midway through the 3rd quarter, the game turned violent with Embiid and Towns pushing each other. That quickly escalated into Towns landing a haymaker, while Embiid went cat-fight and tried to gouge Towns’ left eye.

Minnesota’s Jeff Teague pulled Embiid from the fracas, while Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons pinned Towns to the floor by laying on top of him. For good measure, Simmons appeared to implement a choke-hold on Towns.

Both players were ejected, with Embiid leaving the arena to chants of “MVP” from the notoriously soft-and-cuddly Philadelphia faithful. The 76ers went on to blow out the Timberwolves 117 – 95 and remain undefeated.

Get your tickets now, as the March 24th, 2020 rematch of Embiid and Towns will be an event. An event that’s going to be awesome.

The crazy night around the NBA continued with the Rockets beating the Wizards 159 – 158, and the unfortunate loss of Warriors MVP Stephen Curry who suffeed a broken left hand.
