Eli Manning doing Christian Hackenberg impersonation with errant throws at practice

Eli Manning

The New York Giants need Eli Manning to play well this year, or it’s going to be another long season for Big Blue and its fans. On Monday during practice, he did little to inspire confidence.

Matt Lombardo of NJ Advance Media shared that, “Two consecutive Eli Manning throws, from a relatively clean pocket, landed 5-10 yards out of bounds without a receiver in the zip code.”

A bit earlier, Lombardo detailed an interception Manning threw that should also have Giants fans sweating the coming season.

Okay, so it’s early in the offseason, but Manning doing a Christian Hackenberg impersonation (remember this?) at practice right now is exactly what the Giants don’t want to see. In fact, the reality that he’s doing this while everyone’s out there practicing in shorts with no pressure is incredibly alarming.

Rookie Daniel Jones might end up testing offensive coordinator Mike Shula’s assessment of his readiness much sooner than anyone anticipated.
