Having struggled through a 3-4 start to the season, the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles need all hands on deck to get out of their current rut.
Unfortunately, that’s just not going to be the case. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, 2017 first-round pick Derek Barnett suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers. He’ll undergo surgery and miss the remainder of the season.
Eagles’ DE Derek Barnett is undergoing shoulder surgery and is now out for the season, per source. The former first-round pick recorded 2.5 sacks and 17 tackles this season.

Boasting what many desribed to be the best defensive line in football at the start of the season, Philadelphia has racked up just 18 sacks in seven games.
For his part, Barnett had just 2.5 sacks after recording five as a rookie. Though, he’s also put up 10 quarterback hits. That ranks third among Eagles players, behind Fletcher Cox and Michael Bennett.
