Jeremy Roach scored 21 points and Tyrese Proctor added 17 to lead Duke to a 75-73 victory over Wake Forest in Atlantic Coast Conference play on Tuesday in Durham, N.C.
Roach, who had 17 first-half points, finished 9 of 16 from the field in Duke’s 24th straight win over the Demon Deacons inside Cameron Indoor Stadium dating back to Feb. 14, 1998.
Proctor hit 6 of 11 from the floor, including 3 of 7 from beyond the arc, to go along with five rebounds, while Kyle Filipowski added 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Ryan Young finished with nine points and four rebounds for Duke.
The Blue Devils (16-6, 7-4 ACC) shot 27 of 54 (50 percent) from the field, including 6 of 17 (35.3 percent) from 3-point range. Duke, which has won three of its past four games, outrebounded the Demon Deacons 39-32.
Wake Forest (14-9, 6-6), which has dropped four straight games, was led by Tyree Appleby, who had a game-high 27 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists. Damari Monsanto chipped in 14 points, while Cameron Hildreth added nine. Andrew Carr finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
The Demon Deacons shot 24 of 64 (37.5 percent) from the field, including an abysmal 9 of 31 (29 percent) from beyond the arc.
After Wake Forest cut Duke’s 14-point lead with 5:28 remaining to six on Monsanto’s 3-pointer with 2:08 to go, Appleby’s layup made it 70-66 with 1:23 left after he failed to convert a three-point play.
Duke pushed its edge to 73-66 on Filipowski’s 3-pointer from the top of the key with 46.2 seconds remaining.
Wake Forest committed a turnover on its ensuing possession and Filipowski’s dunk secured the win with 39 seconds left.
Appleby hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to provide the final margin.
Leading 34-32, Duke took control of the game by ending the first half on a 7-2 run to take a 41-34 halftime advantage.
