Drew Brees takes subtle shot at NFL refs in new commercial

No, Drew Brees is not over the NFC Championship Game loss. Not by a long shot, if his new commercial for the apparel company Untuckit is any indication.

The New Orleans Saints quarterback, who is also an investor for the company, gave a brief cameo in a commercial that’s being released on Wednesday nationwide. The company specializes in button-down shirts designed to be work untucked.

In the commercial, a man wearing the company’s shirt walks by Brees, who comments, “At least someone made the right call.”

Of course, this revolves around the absurd blown call that cost the Saints a chance at playing in Super Bowl LIII.

Untuckit founder Chris Riccobono explained how the company and quarterback came together.

“We’ve always positioned Untuckit as the right call,” Riccobono said, per Adweek. “In the aftermath of the Saints-Rams playoff game [in which a pass interference that would have given the Saints a crucial first down was not called], we saw a way to deliver our brand message that also allowed Drew to acknowledge what happened in a humorous way.”

It’s certainly clever marketing. It also shows that the blown call that cost New Orleans is going to continue being a really big deal for a very long time.
