Down to the Last Pitch- The 1991 World Series

  • What kind of reaction are you getting from Atlanta fans by not including any Braves players on the cover of your book?
  • TC and Tim face off about Ron Gardenhire of the Twins.
  • Who are the Sleeper Teams of 2014?
  • Listen in to find out more!

Last time TC and Tim sat down they talked at length about why the 1991 world series was the greatest of all time.  Today Tim and TC are together again talking about how Atlanta fans are feeling playing second fiddle to Kirby Puckett.  Looking at the big picture of the Atlanta Braves team it would seem that this World Series was a turning point for the Braves.  They became a consistent post-season team with 13 appearances after this game!  Their manager Bobby Cox has been a consistently good regular season manager according to Tim. However like many managers Cox tends to not know how to handle the post season.

TC pushes Tim for his thoughts on the Twins Manager Ron Gardenhire. If you are new to the show you may find it helpful to know the Twins are TC’s team, even if they are dead to him right now… and he really isn’t a Gardy fan.  Believe it or not Tim thinks that Gardenhire is a good manager.  He has built a team around Joe Mauer and while Mauer is no Kirby Puckett, Gardenhire is doing a good job with the team. We haven’t had a year of managerial layoffs like the famed 1991 season where 14 managers were let go as the Twins and Braves rose from worst to first.  Perhaps people are looking for someone to wake up one of the diamonds in the rough and be the famous sleeper team of the year?  We find out just who that team might be in Tim’s opinion.  After all if only 4 of the 43 picks at ESPN got it right last year, why not throw your hat in the ring and make a pick this year!

If you don’t follow us on twitter at you should! While you are at it give  a shout out wishing him a very Happy Birthday! Remember it’s hard getting old!
