Don Shula on Deflategate: “We Didn’t Deflate Any Balls”

Prior to the 2007 New England Patriots, the only other team in modern NFL history to go undefeated in the regular season were the Don Shula-led Miami Dolphins back in 1972.

We already know that former Dolphins players from that squad pop open champagne every time it’s guaranteed that they remain the last/only team to win the Super Bowl with an undefeated record. That happened when the New York Giants defeated New England in Super Bowl XLII following the 2007 season.

Chiming in on the whole Deflategate scandal, former Dolphins head coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Don Shula threw some rather glorious shade the Patriots way (h/t Pro Football Talk).

Always done with a lot of class. A lot of dignity. Always done the right way. We didn’t deflate any balls.

Shula went on to call Patriots head coach Bill Belichick “Beli-cheat.”

As we have seen numerous times since his retirement in 20 years ago, Shula, 85, isn’t afraid to chime in on the news of the day surrounding the NFL. This is obviously the latest example.

And it was glorious.
