At 2-6 on the season, the defending NL champion Los Angeles Dodgers are off to their worst start in over three decades. The team simply has not been able to get it going offensively, boasting a .206 average with just four homers in eight games.
Unfortunately, one major component in the team’s hopes of turning it around will not be available for Sunday’s game against the San Francisco Giants. Reigning National League Rookie of the Year Cody Bellinger is dealing with a bout of food poisoning and is not in the lineup for the series finale.

Bellinger, 22, has been one of the few bright spots for an otherwise anemic Dodgers lineup thus far this season. He’s hitting .250 with one homer and three RBI.
This comes on the heels of a rookie campaign that saw the slugger hit 39 homers and drive in 97 runs.
