A lot was made about comments Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers made in the lead up to free agency this past summer.
Rivers was on an ESPN broadcast and praised then Toronto Raptors star Kawhi Leonard. He was fined for the comments.
Little did we know that Leonard would win the NBA Finals MVP award and ultimately sign with the Clippers.
With Kawhi back in Toronto to get his championship ring Wednesday, Rivers provided a brilliant quote.
That’s a slow burn directed at NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and the league office. It’s also yet another example of the pettiness that has defined this era around the Association.
For their part, the Clippers have already been fined $50,000 this year for their handling of resting Leonard.
There doesn’t seem to be a shortage of bad feelings from Rivers and Co. here.
