Former Cleveland Browns Pro Bowl wide receiver Josh Gordon is still awaiting word from the NFL regarding his reinstatement after being suspended once again last season.

Currently a free agent, Gordon would have to be reinstated in order to sign with a team. That has not stopped speculation from coming up regarding his potential next stop after spending part of last season with the Seattle Seahawks.

The talented 29-year-old pass catcher is now adding fuel to said speculation through is Instagram account.

Did Josh Gordon just hint that he’s signing with the 49ers?

Yes, that’s Gordon with 49ers assistant coach Mike McDaniel when the former was a member of the division-rival Seattle Seahawks last season.

Reading between the lines here could make some sense.

San Francisco had shown previous interest in Gordon dating back to his days with the Browns. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was also the Browns’ offensive coordinator when Gordon was a member of the team back in 2014.

Does this mean a signing if imminent? Of course not.

What we do know is that San Francisco has brought in a plethora of veteran receivers since Deebo Samuel went down to injury during the offseason.

Most recently, the 49ers signed former Chicago Bears top-10 pick Kevin White earlier on Thursday. That comes after the team signed both J.J. Nelson and Tavon Austin earlier this summer.

As for Gordon, he’s played in 28 combined games since the end of the 2014 season. The former Baylor standout led the NFL with 1,646 receiving yards in 2013.
